2017 CVNE Imperial Reserva
This Rioja is bursting with flavour and punches hard. If you are looking to drink this today, it certainly needs some air. At least an hour in a decanter or through an aerator a couple times will do it. However, for those looking for a cellar selection, this is for you! The price point for cellar-worthy wines seems to keep increasing, but at $40 this is certainly worth considering for your collection as it strikes a great balance between quality, longer aging potential, and value. With a drinking window likely between 2025-2030, this is something that won’t need extensive aging time, but will certainly reward those that are patient. Bursting with dark fruits such as blueberry and blackberry, and surrounded by notes of vanilla and earth, with a touch of black pepper on the finish. For pairings, stick to red meats.
