2019 Norman Hardie County Pinot Noir
From the first smell, this Pinot Noir demands your attention. There are layers to this wine that add complexity each time you go back to it. Initial notes of black cherries and vanilla are apparent, but a deeper dive reveals red fruits of raspberry and strawberries. On the palate, the same flavors are present but they leans towards the darker fruits and earthy notes. This wine is clearly looking to compete with traditional Burgundian styles, and I would argue that they succeed in this effort. This is a great wine that Burgundy lovers will want to at least consider trying. For food pairings, this pairs well with chicken dishes, woodfire pizza, duck breast, lighter beef dishes, and classic charcuterie boards.
