2016 Nicolas Potel Les Marconnets Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru

2016 Nicolas Potel Les Marconnets Savigny Les Beaune 1er Cru

A delicious and robust Pinot Noir from Burgundy that drinks well now and will cellar for longer

This beautiful Pinot Noir from Burgundy has great flavours of bright red fruits, predominantly cherries and strawberries. However, a sour cherries and cranberry is introduced on the finish that really makes this wine shine. There are some notable tannins as well that are extremely silky and refined, bringing a great balance to the fruits. Overall, this wine is a great example of the Savigny Les Beaune region in Bourgogne and well represents the terroir. This can be consumed today with a longer decant (1-2 hours), but will likely be best after some further cellar aging. If consuming this younger, this wine does particularly well with food. This was paired with a classic Beef Bourgogne and some escargot, and I feel that the meal really brought the potential out of the wine.
